Darn it you guys!!!!!
Esp. PonyPride! Thanks for the brilliant writing! (I will now be useless at work tomorrow.) That was awesome stuff!
On a side note, or I guess a directly related note - I hope Flanigan finds a spot on this coaching staff. I really do. He's awesome. Beyond awesome.

Initially it was the anticipation of a new coach making me unproductive
Now it's the fact that we have one

I need to find a job with an SMU alum boss so I don't get canned.

Any idea of Dickerson and James' reaction to the hire? Someone said they had input on the search, but I wasn't sure if that was substantiated and whether they had been quoted on the hire.

The 'substantiation' was directly from SMU AD Steve Orsini. He made that comment during the news conference. I doubt he'd say something like that if it weren't true.
You bring up a good 'second day' angle to the story, though. Kate H. should be getting reaction comments from former SMU players like CJ, ED, Jerry LeVias and coaches like Hayden Fry, Forrest Gregg, Tom Rossley, Mike Cavan and Phil Bennett.

Seriously? Reaction comments from Phil Bennett? What's he supposed to stay? "Well, if they gave me $10 million for my staff...."
Former player reactions are one thing. Former - fired - coaches are not going to answer that question.
Great work, webdudes.

"I've forgotten more football than they'll ever know."

I can't wait until people think that "joke" is old. Why not rip Forrest Gregg and Tom Rossley, too, while you're at it?

Sorry...and I think that Bennett is a great man but a coach should not brag about the amount of football they have forgotten.

You're right...of course, that's about all that SMU has had.
