New Idea: Home and Away Helmets?

Does anyone know who June Jones had design the new UH logo? Or who does their site design/marketing in general? It's pretty innovative and they definitely do a better job creating a brand. I know we want to throw in some tradition and that the dual-helmet is pretty much a Nike-thing but it might be pretty cool to have a white (red mustang) home helmet and a red (white mustang)/blue (red mustang) away, or vica-versa. It would represent a new era for smu football while also tying in tradition:

Also, Colt Brennan/Darth Vader visors mandatory for all our skill positions.

Those visors can be a pain in the butt, guys would get them and then have an equipment manager take it off in the midst of a game...but some guys really do like them...I don't know how two types of helmets would go down...we have enough problems with one type :)

Dunno. I think the NCAA requires facemasks these days.

Okay wait are we talking about facemask grills or the visors...like the Oakley/Nike type. I think I'm getting confused.

I was talking about manditory visors ( facemasks manditory too) and yes I was half-kidding...I say half because those that do wear them (even clear ones) look pretty damn lethal. Seriously, does anyone know how the UH logo and mascot revolution came about? Who was in charge of that project and would June Jones maybe use them again?

i think we spent too much money on coaches to pay for 3 different kinds of helmets

I am still partial to the red/white mustang helmets. Had a full size one as a kid. I have no idea what ever happened to it.

We'd need the Circle of Champions to donate to the Home and Away budgets for this ever to happen.

Good idea, though.

I looked it up and found out Kurt Osaki from Osaki Design Inc in California was behind the UH uniform design. Osaki Design has also helped re-brand the 49ers (nice), Ravens (eh), Dolphins (subtle), San Diego State (eh), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL, meet Disney *enthusiastic handshake*).

Personally, I'm in the camp that SMU needs some rebranding...maybe not something cartoon-ish (like Tampa Bay) or even something radical (see Portland St) but something new...dressing our players up like Eric Dickerson is a mistake in my opinion. I'm hoping that June asks Osaki or some other design team to create some "just curious" proto-types sometime in the next two years. Hopefully the traditionalists and revisionists can meet somewhere in the middle. Our current merchandise is terrible/unappealing.

I hope not, I wouldn't want to look like the SMU VulcanFuturoFirenBrimestonestangs!

Do QBs have a hard time adjusting to having different helmets if you change them for away games?

But... but... I like the pewter pants. I do agree that we need better gear. The crap in our bookstore is pathetic.
