...According to Hawaii Fan Forum....
They are looking at him as a possible for top job there.
And Hermie, dork that he is, looks like he is right about Reingold.
But like I said to him...if they want to ignore the money, tell them to knock themselves out over there.
Hate to rain on the good times, but anybody got any 411 on this (besides Hermes over there)?

That's what I said in a couple of earlier threads. They need someone to take over and he would be a prime candidate.

its all right we could use a lot more Texas flavor to this Coaching Staff. Hey how about Tom Rossley/ I don't think Jones has an offensive coordinator but he could be assistant head coach. Run and Shoot compadre. Rossley still unemployed I believe.

Mac is from Texas (Tech, I think). I agree with you on needing some Texas flavor. I am concerned most about recruiting.
Tom is an offensive coach, not D. Need D....and recruiting.
Easy version, perfect world is that Mac comes with JJ, and so does Reingold. If not, next best is finding top notch D coach. Could grab a high school guy as DC...what was Scott Smith, OC or DC? Or am I wading past the buoys?

i am listening to ESPN Hawaii 1420 right now and they reported that Mac is interested in the head coaching job. Sucks...we need him too.

McMackin was Big 12 recruiter of the year when he was at Texas Tech. Do we need someone with more Texas flavor than that?
If you can get kids to go to Lubbock (and remember TTU was not as much of a contender back then as they are now--just more of an annoyance) you've got some talent in my book. And all the Texas cred you need.

I think I knew that YEARS AGO-but thanks. Why worry about it-if he's offered a head coaching job he''ll take it.

I understand why McMackin would want that job and hawaii may not have any choice but to go internal since they have no AD. ON the other hand, can Hawaii really afford not to go out and get a bigger name to coach that says they do not intend to fold inward quietly?

Knew what? You referring to me or somebody else?
And you have a good point...why worry? It was just nice that Jones was going to get some consistency from his staff. That would be nice.

I read somewhere earlier (I think it may have just been the UH board, but I think someone was quoting Reardon) that someone asked McMackin if he wanted the job and he said he "would be interested in it."
Doesn't mean much. Almost every coordinator in the country would say that if someone asked them about taking over the team they are coaching. It also requires the AD to be interested in giving you the job, and they don't even have an AD.
Still, I imagine he would take it if offered. (Although he was not on Jones list of potential candidates!)

Actually, if you're Phil. Go after it. He's had a history of JUCO recruits. He can go nuts on those juco kids over there. And his wife would move. I know his record stinks, but he always said if he had a full deck, he would have had a better run here.

Sounds sort of like:
"Quit dreaming. June Jones has ZERO interest in the SMU job."
Oops.
