Apparently there is a poison pill in his old contract that if he left prior to the expiration of his contract, 6/30/08, then he owes them roughly 400k.

Will our circle of champions help cover this as well...I mean what is another 20k to the 20 or so that is paying his salary

I would think most schools they would get out of it...with Hawaii though that is 8 years of recruiting...can't see them passing that up wihtout a fight

Hawaii needs that $400k from Jones to pay Frazier's $312k (plus bonuses) buyout. Oh, the irony . . .

Athletic director's bonuses
Herman Frazier's contract promises the following bonuses:
$20,800: (A month's salary) if the football team is the champion of its conference.
$7,500: When the football team competes in a bowl game.
$15,000: If the athletics program operates with an increase in net assets for two consecutive years, and the athletics program repays a $1 million note payable to the university.

Too bad for Hawaii that Frazier did not get a bonus for extending the football coach's contract.

Let 'em sue. I'm sure Stallion would be more than willing to defend that one.

JJ more than paid them $400k when he took them to the Sugar Bowl.
