Getting People Excited on Gameday

I was thinking that since we are trying up the excitement level during games, we should change up some things during the games. If we are going to fill Ford Stadium, we need to make the atmosphere exciting enough for the "casual" Dallas sports fan to attend.

Here are a couple things that come to mind

1. The Sound System needs to be louder with some changes in the music selection

2. Since we will be scoring often, there needs to be something a little more exciting than just the lame TD logo they put up on the screen. We need a new Post TD tradition

3. Overall management of the Jumbotron during games

4. Give away free shirts and other stuff like that

Anyone have any suggestions???

As to the sound system, not necessarily louder, but better would be nice.

They do give away t-shirts at some games, they shoot them through those air cannons into the stands.

I am done with "3rd down thunder" that needs to go away quickly

and the "dot race" needs to be revamped as well...

some of the more apt marketing minds need to get on this stuff mainly because we say so!!!

We suould turn the scoreboard and sound over to the students. Then we would really have something different..... and maybe more students would attend as well. :?

All great suggestions, and probably covers most of what I can think of at this point. One thing that a buddy of mine pointed out is that stupid Pluckers wing race, they showed the exact same one at every game.

The sound system needs to be changed up, too, to get rid of the massive echo. They brought in big speakers for the first couple games last year, and put them in the end zone. It sounded much better, but it wasn't very aesthetically pleasing, and they had way too loud.

The overall game "program" if you will is a bit choppy and not that polished. The music choices, Jumbotron highlights, etc. just needs to be smoother to provide a better in-game experience.

FAJITA WINS!

One suggestion - let the band play more.

Yep. Fajita always wins after the big Monty Python-like foot drops down on all of them. Very VERY spare.

They should let us play instead of doing stupid advertisements they get paid 20 bucks for.

Agreed.

I know alot of schools have the sirens/cannon go off when they score.

We need to do something like that too.

Of course I suppose HP homeowners may complain.

June Jones = Scores....and we need to have a special effect when we score.

Yeah we may not want to be like "so & so", but kids love stuff like that.

Anyone with little kids or that has been around little kids when SMU scores can attest that the coolest thing to them is to see Peruna running across the field...no need for a cannon or anything, just draw more attention to little Peruna. It is a cool tradition

At least they don't play "Who Let The Dogs Out" any more during pregame. It was always way too loud...

That is my favorite part as well, but I am kid a heart. Please don't blow a foghorn like TCU or that awful thing like Memphis does. That's cheesy, IMO.

Having been to both a home UT game and our game at TT 2 years ago, we need to come up with a cool intro to the stadium. Tech has a Pirate ship shooting the other team and UT has the Longhons entering the locker room and being truned into players. They then go live to the tunnel with the players coming out of the locker rooms and going onto the field.

At this point I will just settle for a bunch of wins.

My biggest suggestion for the stadium itself...let the little kids sit/play on the grass in the endzone. It is hilarious to watch the yellow coats trying to stop the kids at half...but seriously why bother. That hill is more popular than all those inflated thingies...so use it.
