I must say the class and dignity shown by the Hawaii fans who have come by this board is a welcome change from the refuse that blows in from Lubbock, or Froggy High, or Denton. I hope the UH admin gets their act together, I'd like to see Hawaii continue to do well in football.

I happened to be in a Shony's restaurant in Branson in September when a whole bus full of what looked like orientals came in for lunch. It turned out that they were University of Hawaii fans who came to the states to see Hawaii play UNLV. And some of them went on an excursion all the way to Branson. Let me tell you, Hawaii fans travel when their team wins. And they had an amazing season. There was quite a large crowd of them at the Super Dome for the Sugar Bowl.

Couldn't agree more. If you go look at the UH boards, the number of people saying they will always support Jones and will now cheer for SMU is astounding. Granted, there are plenty who are angry, but the majority by far are just grateful for what he was able to do there. Vastly different reaction than say, the WVU fans about Rodriquez. I also hope they land someone great and get the changes made that Jones wanted. Fans like that deserve a good football program.

I too have been very impressed with the UH fans. And think that JJ's departure might be exactly what was needed to get the improvements to their athletic facilities.

They choose right when selecting their HC and JJ's move could work out best for both programs.

Then how do you distinguish east asians from other 'asian' people, like indians, arabs, caucasians west western asia, etc? I don't think 'mongoloid' is a PC term anymore either.

Whoa, easy there. "East asian" works very well to distinguish from those from the subcontinent. Those from Mongolia are referred to as Mongolian. I don't believe there is a specific term to distinguish the people from countries on the subcontinent as a seperate entity from Middle Easterners and East Asians. They are usually just referred to by country--Indian, Pakistani, Afghani etc.

Sorry if I didn't use a term that was "PC". I was complimenting the Hawaii fans. I'm not the best nor do I care much about being "PC". I think that this country is going down the tubes because of "PC". Just my opinion.

Get over your hippie PC crap and realize: the area is commonly referred to as the orient, and people from there oriental. It isn't racist. I'm from the Americas, I'm American... If someone is Arab, they are from the Arabia. It makes sense! Don't be stupid and foul up the perfectly logical, non-racist way to refer to a people with your PC crap

That doesn't change the FACT that orientals are THINGS and Asians are PEOPLE. Whether you like it or not is a mute point; Asians prefer it that way so respect it.
