Bliss ResignsWill they just cancel the season?
dallasnews.com The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Re: Bliss Resignsthis probably belongs on the basketball page, but who knows what effect this will have on Baylor before all is said and done.
I've said before that I feel sorry for Baylor trying to compete in the Big XII. Tough to see them EVER going head to head against Kansas, Texas, OU, OSU, etc... http://msn.espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0808/1592839.html
Re: Bliss ResignsWhat's truly sad is with all of the under the table shady dealings, they still could not compete in the BIG XII.
This might be the end of their program in that conference.
Re: Bliss ResignsWow. Pretty ugly situation. This stuff is going on at many, many schools though. It took a freak incident like the Dennehy thing to get investigators snooping and determined to find stuff, but I am convinced thats all it would take at Tennessee, Florida State, Alabama ect. for them all to get the DP right here and now. Baylor will fry though, for many of the same reasons SMU did. Sad day for college athletics in Texas.
Re: Bliss ResignsNo one is getting the DP again. You think the NCAA wants to see what happened to ya'll happen to anyone else? No way, they realize how severe that penalty really is, and i highly doubt we'll see it again.
Re: Bliss ResignsYeah, I'm sure Baylor will forfeit their membership in the Big 12 and lay millions upon millions of BCS TV revenue to go to a non BCS league so TCU can take their place.
Sorry, too many Baptist in Texas (3 million) that will keep Baylor U from sliding right into the Brazos river adjacent to their Waco campus. But I guess some can keep wasting their time hoping that happens? ![]() There are some who thought Kansas State's almost 100 years of a miserable, pathetic football program was deader than a door nail at one time. Well, I think even most of you would agree they were wrong back then about the Wildcats. One day, someone will write that everyone was also wrong about the Baylor Bears. Come on now, lets get to the real heart of the matter of your true concerns (or dislikes) for Baylor and eliminate all the other lagniape, then real communication can take place here.
quote:
Originally posted by TCU_backer1: What's truly sad is with all of the under the table shady dealings, they still could not compete in the BIG XII. Re: Bliss ResignsMaybe Baylor can avoid sanctions with the NCAA by blaming all this on SMU’s failure to inform them of the Bliss’s misdeeds while coaching the Mustangs.
Re: Bliss ResignsNo, no one will ever again get the DP, not even Baylor. But there are DP caliber violations going on at many schools throughout the country today. They'll never be found, because they will never be investigated. And another thing, if what just happended at Baylor happened at Texas you can bet most of it would have been swept under the rug somehow. As for SMU warning Baylor about Bliss, caveat emptor.

Please point to anywhere in my post that I said TCU will be the next school in the BIG XII... Did not think so. Go flame on the UNT board... Wait, no one reads it anyway. Seriously, they may not have a choice. If the BIG XII decides its in their best interest, I would not be suprised to see them go after Arkansas. On hornfans.com, they were discussing adding Tulane to the BIG XII, and I think that was a joke. Personally, I will be the only Frog Fan to say this, but TCU would not be a good fit in the BIG XII, nor do I think SMU would be either. I think a stronger CUSA is the best option. I would like to see TCU in the SEC, but we can all dream can't we!
Re: Bliss ResignsNo one reads GoMeanGreen.com? Just another well placed UNT urban tale that is untrue like most the others, but we're used to that by now. No readers, though? How about the last 2 August' preceeding the previous 2 football seasons approximately 3-4 million hits? I know, that just can't possibly happen at UNT now can it? This month will most likely be a record-setter for any month on the UNT board, you know, the one you say no one reads. We know more visit GMG.com than would admit.

Come on now... How many times did you hit the refresh button? ![]() [This message has been edited by TCU_backer1 (edited 08-09-2003).]
Re: Bliss ResignsWow, I'm impressed TCU_backer. It's refreshing to see a TCU fan who really does see/understand the "big picture".
There is no way that the BigXII, if for some reason Baylor left, would ever, EVER want TCU to join. They also mentioned this possibility last night on the local ESPN radio show (with that idiot Galloway). What's the difference between TCU and Baylor? TCU would get CRUSHED in the BigXII first of all. And second of all, the BigXII would have absolutely no reason, zero, to want them to join in the first place. Why would they want TCU? To get the DFW market? They clearly already have that in their pocket. If Baylor left, I suspect Arkansas would be the first choice. That may be difficult with the success of the SEC. After that, not sure who they would go after. But I guarantee you it won't be a small, private Texas school. Been there, done that. [This message has been edited by RI Stang (edited 08-09-2003).]
Re: Bliss ResignsI think one real question will be what do the Texas Baptists do about Baylor? They have been in a war of words with the Southern Baptists for several years now about the fundamentalist turn of the Southern Baptists. Obviously, these scandels give the Southern Baptists fodder and the Texas Baptists could decide that Baylor would be better off getting out of Division I entirely. They could very well decide that morality is important. Luckily for them, the Episcopalians appointed a gay bishop which distracted the Baptists from this story, but they will get into it I'm sure. At SMU recall the Methodist Church stepped in after the scandels and cleaned house on the Board of Governors. There was talk of ending Division I football at that time, too. I do expect that the Baylor administration will do a thorough investigation and cooperate with the NCAA. Once all the dirt is exposed, there may be calls for de-emphasis from the Texas Baptists. As we also know, the NCAA is like a dog with a hunk of dead flesh in its mouth. It will rip and tear and find every piece of meat that's there. Every trivial violation will be added to the violation list. At the end of the day, the school will be cited as having 100 violations to justify whatever sanction is handed down. My guess is that if the school finds more violations, it could cause some harsh church involvement.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Bliss ResignsMoney!! - They are not turning their back on Big 12 Money - Baptist know this better then most. There will be no de-emphasis or conference changes from Baylors standpoint.

Now, I disagree with you there. TCU could be competitive in the BIG XII. I didn't say win the conference championship, but be competitive. Tulsa could be more competitive in all sports than Baylor. Seriously. As for wanting TCU. If they did decide for some reason to give Baylor the boot, Obviously Arkansas would be the first choice. I wonder seriously though if they would do that because they are making more in the SEC than they could in the BIG XII. So what are your other options? TCU SMU New Mexico Tulane *Remember that you are replacing a southern division school, and Colorado State, BYU, Utah does not meet that criteria. It could be interesting. *Also note, that if Arkansas left the SEC, who would they try and pick up? I see TCU as a good option, because it would allow them the Texas market and Texas athletes. Realistically, a Southwest Conference of TCU SMU USM Tulane UAB Memphis USF Houston UCF Rice ... might come to fruitition. No one really knows.
