The last time I posted something the thread went crazy! There is a name I could say...but I think this board would explode. Let us just say that JJ almost *never* flew from Hawaii to the mainland to recruit, but he was in a certain junior's home as soon as UH finished its regular season. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin beat reporter (Dave Reardon) said that he never saw JJ work so hard to recruit someone before. The Honolulu Advertiser folks have been amazed by it also.
The lead person for that player was JJ, not Reinbold or any of the other assistants. Every big-name school that player will talk to has offered him a scholarship...but I wonder if JJ could sell the chance to break all of Timmy Chang's records while playing in Dallas. Anyway, no sense bringing that guy up because I'm 99% sure USC will get him since they have been throwing themselves at him like you wouldn't believe!
JJ's offense will attract players on that side of the ball. Plus, it looks like you already have a good, experienced QB. By the way, one of the criticisms I've seen of Willis is that he's 6'1"...but that is probably around Timmy Chang's height and Tyler Graunke (UH's QB next year) is shorter than that. Shorter QBs fit with JJ's offense much better than regular pro style offenses.
The Honolulu Advertiser thinks that Bo Mitchell will end up at UH. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin thinks that he'll be at SMU.
What SMU really needs are defensive players. Recruiting on that side depends on who the defensive coordinator is. If Reinbold goes to SMU, UH will get a LOT of good players on defense...he's even got several commits from Texas on the defensive side that might switch to SMU.
All 3 of the starting LBs for Hawaii will play in the NFL. The 2 juniors both got decent evaluations from the NFL but decided to stay at UH for their senior seasons. When SMU gets those types of players, then a BCS bowl is possible...because the offense will be fine.
