Just got an email from the school saying June Jones will be at the basketball game tomorrow. Everyone who can make it should go show their support.

SMU MEN’S BASKETBALL
COME WELCOME JUNE JONES TO SMU
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 7PM

Make a point to be at Moody Coliseum Wednesday night and welcome New SMU Football Head Coach June Jones to SMU! Come and help cheer on Matt Doherty and the Mustangs as they square off against Houston at 7p.m. Coach Jones will be introduced to the crowd during one of the breaks in the first half so get to the game on-time and help welcome SMU’s newest coach.

The game against Houston will be the first Men’s home game of 2008 and the Conference USA home-opener. The game will be broadcast live on KTXA 21.

SMU is also at home on Saturday, when Tulsa visits for a league contest at 7p.m.

What if the first few days of recruiting JJ is hitting the local high schools? There is a wealth of talent within 45 minutes of the SMU campus.

Looks like he is in Houston today and possibly tomorrow. Short plane ride back for the game. I am sure there is plenty of recruiting to be done in the Dallas area as well.

well, i don't know the rules for an informal visit, but how do you know they're not calling all the HS kids in dallas to tell them to come out and meet the coach at halftime in one of the banquet rooms?

It never had a course.

Getting Coach Jones to Moody is the right thing to do. Let him work the phones all day and night, bring him to Moody for the fans and the TV cameras, and then back to the phones. Consider it a coffee break from recruiting.

Having Coach Jones attend the basketball game is a brilliant idea for the school. Not only will this encourage students to attend the game, but it will allow the Mustang community a glimpse at the man who could change SMU's national image. I think it is a great advertising ploy, and hey it's only twenty minutes. That leaves 23+ hours in the day to recruit
