The Sporting News rankings:
<A HREF="http://www.sportingnews.com/cfootball/countdown2003.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.sportingnews.com/cfootball/countdown2003.html</A>

List three of our opponents in the top 25 and all three are home games.

SMU plays #21 (FSU), #22 (OkSt), and #24 (TCU) ... And ALL at home!!

Certainly adds glitz to the home schedule, the ticket office should jump on that.

I'm surprised Boise State isn't on their list. They should also be considered a very tough, probably ultimately ranked, opponent. And we also have them at home.

Boise lost a lot of skill players on offense though they return a super QB. Their defense should be very tough. It is difficult for mid-majors to get props at the start of the year and very easy to get dropped.

Remember when TCU first started winning. No respect at the start of the next season.

I agree, it's amazing that Boise isn't on that list. I'd put them, as well as TCU and Oklahoma State, ahead of Fresno State. Fresno's good, but those other teams are better.

Boise scares me as much as any team on our schedule this year. That list is a slap in the Broncos' collective face. They're going to be extremely tough.

ESPN seems to think real highly of Fresno State, too. They've got a nice feature on FSU's coach Hill. I'll try to find the link. They congratulate him for having the guts to play anyone, anywhere, and suggest that other schools would benefit from doing the same.

TCU and Boise would both recieve a lot more publicity if they actually scheduled REAL BCS competition on their OOC plate.

You root for any mid major that can play with and BEAT the big boys. Pruett at Marshall and Hill at Fresno have done a terrific job getting their teams into the spotlight, and even Hawaii has had moderate success.
