Reggie Bush can run, but USC can't hide

Money quote about June Jones.

And I bet the NCAA finds USC knew nothing about it, channeling Sgt Schultz.

doesn't care who wins.

Three years and they can't figure this one out, but they know about OJ Mayo getting tix from 'Melo within 24 hours? I guess Mayo isn't leading them to an NCAA title this year, so he's fair game.

To me, this is proof that Reggie Bush is not an ethical person.

i don't doubt that he's guilty but the article does talk about suspecting 300k a year - not actually finding him guilty of accepting 300k a year

I'm a little surprised that this has still been smoldering rather than exploding. Pretty strong attempt by USC to minimize the damage. I get the feeling Pete Carroll is going to be viewed as an untouchable figure in all of this.

I'm a little surprised that it's taking this long to close this one out. It's been in the news for what, two years? There's even a book out about it. But none of the investigators can figure it out? Someone's getting paid too keep it quiet and drag their feet, IMHO.

The difference is that the powers that be don't want USC to be found guilty. SMU was easy for them to pick on because it wasn't a national powerhouse that had just recently won multiple national championships.

You are correct on not wanting to mess with USC. To big. The NCAA does not want anyone viewing a program like USC (a BCS school) in an unfavorable light. The thing at SMU also involved a sitting Governor, and so politics was involved. SMU was a major program at the time, but not as major as USC is. I'm not sure USC has the same type of enemies SMU had, meaning UT. In the end USC will get a slap on the wrist and things will continue to go on and on not only at USC but Okla. Fla. UT, and most of the major programs in the country. The NCAA does not want to know.

Sgt. Schultz from Hogan's Heros knows more about this than the NCAA. The NCAA doesn't investigate. It now relies on the honor system. Teams investigate themselves, claim they had appropriate internal compliance processes, gives the offending sport a major league, "Don't ever, and I mean ever this time, do it again."

The problem for the NCAA is that few people believe it is a honest and effective organization. It is a joke. USC walks and Bush suffers nothing. Meanwhile, Southeastern North Dakota State will get hammered so the NCAA can pound it's chest like mighty Tarzan and proclaim how effective the organization is at catching cheaters.

Here is a crack NCAA investigator assign to the USC case.

Agree totally. The NCAA is now more than ever a business. USC is a major player in that business. Maybe it is time for the NCAA to be investigated? I don't have a clue as to who would investigate because Congress is just as corrupt. Maybe a commission like the 9/11 commission. It may be coming if the smaller schools demanded it? North Dakota does have 2 Senetors as does every other state. The North Dakotas and South Dakotas, Wyomings etc. need to get on this, and while they are at it, end the BCS cartel. img]http://barracks.4t.com/Schultz.jpg[/img]

Yeah, ok. You're telling me that in the same exact position that he was in coming out of High School, you would have said "no thanks??" I doubt it...

and what do you think USC and the NCAA made off of Reggie when USC was winning their championship? they'll let this go. who knows though, maybe that's why Pete Carroll was checking out the NFL jobs this year.
