Haven't seen a FROM THE SIDELINE column. Anyone know John? Would love to get his take on Coach Jones and what his hiring means for the program, from a player's perspective.

I put together some long-winded thoughts about the hiring and submitted it to the powers at ponyfans. They're editing and maybe it'll go up shortly.
In the interim, for free, are some thoughts...
June Jones is a successful, proven winner. He is a baller and bluntly, way out of the league of someone I thought would sniff us, especially as the search grew longer.
If the players work really hard and take what he's coaching, the football players will be able to graduate SMU with as great of a headstart to life success, winning experience, and structure as the student body leaving with foundations in business, communications, arts, and sciences.
I spoke briefly with the great Rich Phillips after Jones' initial Ticket interview, and it was evident this program has a guy that truly "gets it."
