Was the question on the recruit out of nowhere?
JJ looked unprepared...

As I said in the other thread, it all boils down the fact that Hansen is a caulksucker who will never pass up a chance to bag on SMU.

I was more surprised about the fact that Dale has friends at all, much less friends in Tyler.

JJ gave it just as much time as the question was worth- not much.

How could he not have expected that question - 100% predictible. He rambled through it - no damage done in my view.

I didn't think it was so much being unprepared, as there not being any good way to answer that question.

Hey why don't you get some coach to hide out in Ford Stadium if you don't want the media to ask tough question. Stay away from Dale Hansen and The Ticket and have your coaches show on the Balch Springs radio station. He's a big boy-he's 40!!!

I was surprised he wasn't drunk! I think Dale's turning his life around:

Hey dumb-ass:
my point was he looked surprised by the question-- and his answer was unimpressive.
Still like JJ- just bringin up the obvious

If i want to hate Dale Hansen, I'll hate Dale Hansen. I understand Dale's just being "jounalistic", but I still can't stand the guy. Turn down the volume on your computer if you don't want to hear this. (Not sure I understand that one still.)

I am just glad there are tough questions to be asked. Honestly, I'd rather be on this side of it, than the coach on the news explaining why we couldn't get any recruits to sign.

I don't think he answered the question very well. I also don't think Dale asked it correctly either.
If you're going to ask a tough question, be direct with your information and don't hide behind the "friends" angle.
If you're June, be direct. But again, he can't comment on players other than a young man. So for those who don't know, it went over their heads.

Did you see the wreck footage ch5 just showed?
I don't think I'd screw with JJ.

It would have been better if JJ had simply said the truth: "All recruits were told - in writing - that their scholarships were non binding and they would be evaluated by the incoming staff. Dews was evaluated and I decided that he was not the kind of player we were looking for".
All this doesn't really matter as it will be forgotten in 2 weeks.
After our first bowl game under JJ, it will not only be forgotten but competing coaches will not be able to hurt us with it.

When an athlete changes his mind at the last minute its OK and no problem. Dale Hansen is a chump for asking that question.
