The 5A minimum was 2,085 students. It keeps growing.

Big news: Carter dropped to 4A and Plano schools, High, West and East are going back to Region I.

I have no sympathy for them. For years, they and Houston Strake Jesuit screamed at the UIL to gain admittance. Because they are such a wild card, they knew every two years they were going to be subject to this.

But they've proven they can handle the 5A life. They'll be fine.

The 2085 students as a cutoff is an arbitrary number that changes each year based on the fact that UIL has a limit of 245 on the number of 5A schools allowed. 4A will continue to grow each year as schools are pushed out of the 245 biggest schools in Texas. That is why they changed the playoffs this coming year in 4A to allow 4 schools from each district.

Not only does Frisco have 4 schools right now, but within 5 years, they will have enough high schools to have their own district.

Holy Hell!!! Condolences to Jesuit indeed.

My Jesuit Rangers are gonna' get rocked. Mother of pearl!!! But I definitely will have to schedule one of my trips to see the Ponies to coinside with game against one of those Plano powers.

I wanna' be a Jesuit Ranger,
I wanna' live a life of danger,
Don't want to go to Bishop Lynch,
Get myself a nasty wench....

I always found it interesting that the highest award Jesuit gives to a graduating senior is the Bishop Lynch Award. Irony.

Interesting...they put 4 Dallas HS with 3 Richardson schools and 1 Carrollton HS in 5A. I think that's the weirdest DISD district that I've seen in the last 20 years.

Yeah. Carrollton's got 1 in 3A (Ranchview), 2 in 4A and 1 in 5A (Creekview) - they are all over the place. It'll be a challenge setting up a football schedule with 1 stadium and 3 district committees to work with. Newman Smith missed 5A by 2 students.

That was part of the agreement for them to be allowed into the UIL...they had to compete at the 5A level.

Edit:I see that Dallas now has 2 4A districts of 8 teams. Wow, how times have changed. I remember when 4A was the redheaded stepchild in DISD. It'll probably be this way for a while now. Can't see any of the schools listed growing enough to be 5A schools.
