Can someone please remind me what day June Jones actually started here. I need it for a friendly argument with Kevin Sherrington. Thanks.

His press conference introducing him as coach was Monday, January 7th. I'm thinking he started, was physically here as a full time employee, on Tuesday, January 15th. He had the Bear Bryant awards in Houston on Thursday night the 17th. And Dews' dad called on Friday the 18th.
Can anyone confirm?

Well, it comes down to this. We send the letter in November informing all recruits that their offers are contigent upon the new coach's approval. JJ starts work on Tuesday, 1/15. By Friday 1/18 the decision had been made to withdraw Dews' offer. So Dews gave the new staff three days at best -- who knows, the decision could have been made that Friday morning -- to inform him that his offer had been pulled. Dont' know what else you could expect from the SMU staff. Turning it around, the argument could be made that Dews ought to be thankful we knew that early whether he was going to be a fit here. That allowed him to go secure another offer.

I thought we should, but I found myself in Tyler looking for office space last Friday. I had some extra time, so I drove my vehicle w/ SMU license plates & a Mustang Club sticker around the Lee campus, just to mark the territory. Never saw Mike Owens come try to chase me away.

I'm not energetic enough to look today, but if you go to the DMN website, there are some stories you can locate with the timing of events
There's also a chronology about this here on PF.com; search for the kid's name and you'll find it.

Dews' willful ignorance of a pending scholarship pull (the november letter) doesn't excuse him, IMHO. He knew, no one else had offered or considered him, but he held on and hoped our new coach would keep him. After all, what was his alternative? No one else wanted him.
He and the coach tried to turn it around on SMU. Look where he will sign (1aa).

What kind of office space are you looking for? I think my building has some open space.

Uhm, if you don't return my stapler, I'm going to burn the building down.
