Roster adjustments/position changes

Postby Charleston Pony » Tue Feb 05, 2008 7:14 pm

With the number of recruits that might be coming in next year, it would appear some guys are not going to be invited back. Depending on what defensive scheme we run, could be seeing some position changes on that side of the ball.

Not sure who might be encouraged to go look for playing time elsewhere (at the former Division I-AA) but I assume some of the older guys might be looking at position changes.

There are several people suggesting Vincent Chase might be a good OT candidate. Can he pack on some weight and contribute in that role next year?

What about Mckinney? Several are suggesting at 6-4, 265 he'd be a good DE candidate. True?

Some have suggested our personnel fits a 3-3-5 defense pretty well. Clearly Serge is the only NT we have on the roster but we've got some DEs with Handy and Johnson returning and guys like McKinney and Thomas or even Josh Robinson. Has he bulked up from the 235 lbs they listed him as a FR-HS?

We are struggling to find a MLB, but guys like Smart and Yenga could be interesting candidates on the outside.

Clearly we have a bunch of DBs and the 3-3-5 can hide a lack of speed (I loved watching South Carolina run that scheme under Charlie Strong)

Spring practice should be interesting.
