The link to a Miami Herald article on UM's #1 rated class tells how the administration helps show prospects the Cane Family. It works! Coker had lost the local talent. When you see that two of the top 10 HS teams in the country are in Miami, you just have to dominate the area to be a cocsistant top 5 team. Shannon obviously knows how. This is a good model for us. They are a highly selective private university in a major city with even more distractions and competition the Dallas area offers. It can be done.

BAMA had the #1 rated class in most publications, including rivals, not Miami...

ROLL TIDE!

But how many people now think it was Miami, just because they said it.

mostly just because they took so many guys. (32?) They did do a great job but i think 6 or so teams near the top had a higher average rank per recruit.

Yeah, Saban got those kids to sign the same way Alabama got Saban to sign:

i can't wait for saban to jump the alabama ship just to see how pissed off all the alabama fans are that still argue that he's not a dirtball.

on a side note: accusing saban of going to alabama just for the money? what a jerk! i mean what really good coach would leave a job that they like just because someone throws an absurd amount of money at them?? I just can't even believe that a coach would be drawn to a school just for a large amount of cash. How could anyone anywhere ever like a coach that was basically just going there because he got paid tons of cash??

I was waiting for you, Mr. Sobchak, to try and draw me offsides with this...amazed at how quickly you pounced on it...I hate you.

I am now bracing for the Anti-Saban "tide" to come rushing in, even though EVERY person who criticizes Saban would have handled it EXACTLY the way he did. No coach in his right mind would have told his current team he was leaving until a signed deal was in place...and ALL of us would leave our jobs in a split second for an enormous pay raise in an industry we prefer for a job with more responsibility/control.

I am all-knowing, all-seeing, all-doing, Mr. Lebowski.

I have no problem with Saban's handling of the situation. That's the sad state of hiring in our 24-hr news cycle these days. Nor do I have a problem with what Alabama did with Saban - it's perfectly permissable to money-whip a coach. Now, recruits on the other hand...

Funny!

and for the record, there is no question Saban is just a hired gun, but people that criticize him make me laugh...most, if not all, of us would have handled it just the same.

June Jones didn't come to SMU for the burritos. Let's be honest.

So much hatred...Yes, Walter, you're right. There is an unspoken message here. It's "F* YOU, LEAVE ME THE F* ALONE!" Yeah, I'll be at practice.
