Alabama landed the No. 2 prospect and Clemson made a splash on signing day, but the nation's top class belongs to Miami. Top 25

You could probably have just said that in the original thread. Multiple threads on the same topic are always a pain in the [deleted].

Miami's success depends on how many guys stay on the field instead of being in jail. They have seriously had some thugs on their team over the years.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.
Potential is nothing, performance is everything.

GeorgiaMustang...to put it lightly "What The ____ are you smoking?"
Miami hasn't had anyone in jail in over a decade, something that can't be said for 95% of the D1 programs.
Sorry if I am taking your name literally...but if you want to look at the Georgia Bulldogs...this will be the third year in a row they will start the season with suspended players due to being arrested!

its obvious that GM doesnt know what hes talking about. Not all thugs go to jail dude. they might have had some players carry guns and one die recently but they arent that bad.

Fair enough not every thug goes to jail. But they usually have some type of complaint against them, something that a miami player hasn't had in a couple of years.
Set aside that...every player that miami took had multiple offers, so once again every program could be labeled as "Thug U" if they were able to take these players.
Hate to point out that Odiari who we are all happy to take, has a worse rap sheet than every single player in Miami's class this year.
Finally, as to your incredibly childish comment about the death of a player...by your reasoning VT's team must be at least 30 times worse considering the massacre done there. And never mind that the player, Pata, lived off campus and not on the campus. Sort of like the many gun deaths that occur in Dallas.
Finally, Randy Shannon requires all players to sign a contract that states if they are found with a gun even at an off campus residence they are off the team no questions ask. Unlike say UT where the students are actually asking for guns on campus: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,323228,00.html

I think you are way out of line to bring a new incoming SMU player, Odiari, into "this" discussion.
You know nothing about Odiari, and you for sure don't know the specifics of his past. Your speculations can only hurt and not help. Let him move forward with a clean slate and support.
Leave SMU and Odiari out of this discussion.

You'd think with all that great stuff happening, and all those model citizen Miami players (you have to be kidding - right?) Miami might have their own football site you could go post on.
If you are an SMU student start acting like it - lose your old school affiliations

Ahh yes because I am the only one with split loyalties on this board? How am I not acting like an SMU fan? Considering my split loyalties, I would bet that I am much more like 75% of the SMU fans and campus. At least my two teams don't conflict. We have alot of posters that support other programs, but because I came to my team's defense I am not an SMU fan?
Oh and regarding the Odiari comment, I meant no offense to him, I am thrilled to have him here. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of attacking Miami for taking "questionable" characters especially based on past mistakes.

Here's the difference. Odiari is an Big XII All-Academic football player. How many All-Academics did Miami have? Oh yeah, just one. The placekicker/punter.

I AM BEGINING TO WONDER IF ANYONE READ THE MIAMI hERALD LINK IN MY ORIGINAL POST. THE POINT I WANTED TO MAKE WAS THE MIAMI PROGRAM, AT A SCHOOL VERY SIMILAR TO SMU, IS SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE EVERY BODY FROM THE PRESIDENT ON DOWN TAKES PART IN THE RECRUITING EFFORT. THIS INCLUDES MEETING WITH RECRUITS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THE ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. THIS INCLUDES FORMER PLAYERS, NOW IN THE NFL, ON THE SIDELINES DURING THEIR BYE WEEK. THEY HAVE CREATED THE 'MIAMI U FAMILY" AND WE NEED TO LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE. THEIR MODEL WORKS FOR A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY. FIVE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IS PROOF!
