With the Change in staff and having so many RS's burned last year it will be interesting to see if any of the Freshmen that sat last year can make an impact this year.

Will the year off have allowed Syzmon Czerniak to bulk up? as a fellow Pole I would love to see him out there blocking the running lanes, but he seemed to be shrinking last year.

What about Former A&M Transfer Chase Kennemer? Where does he fit in here? Will we have two Big XII transfers starting at Linebacker?

Speedy DJ Emmerson could be exactly what the offense needs. At 5'11, he's a giant among men at IR.

I think most of us are expecting big things from Big Man Josh LeRibeus. But along with him, JT Brooks, and Derrick Lilly could be real monsters after a full year in the Weight Room.

With the Pileup of experienced players in the Defensive Backfield (in no particular order: Rock Dennis, Bryan McCann, David Haynes, Bryce Hudman, Derrius Bell, DeVon Bailey (did they get any reps at DB, or just Special teams?), and Deyon McKelroy will Terrance Wilkerson and DeMikel Shankle find a new role on the team?

As much as I'm excited about the new class or Recruits, I'm also looking forward to see what the rest of 2007 can achieve in the coming year.

It's going to be very interesting to see which RS step up & make the biggest impact on the squad.

Of the kids u mentioned, I have the highest expectations for Kennemer & LeRibeus.

I predict big things for the RB Will Clay that somehow went to Sam Houston.

Phil Bennett.

The same reason we lost Zach Hall and his brother who now starts on the OLine for UT, amongst others.

because PB made their SMU experience complete? or because of the 1-11 season they had to suffer through?

Get off Coach Bennett's back. Zach Hall was a good HS linebacker who couldn't play at the college level. He was just too slow, and when he didn't pan out, his brother soured on SMU. That's not unusual. Coach Bennett gave it a run, and it didn't work out. But that does not mean he's to blame for the sun going down every night. He's off to Pitt, and he has a chance to do well. Wish him good luck and move on.

DJ was never really happy here, he didn't like the general atmosphere/environment at SMU, never really quite fit in that well and he's a bit of a quiet kid. Furthermore, he was not even close to being 5'11"...where on earth did that come from!?
Szymon...is actually quite chubby still, he may have lost weight but he continues to struggle shaping up into a more muscular build.
It really will be exciting to see what happens during the spring, what the coaches decide on and most importantly...what the 08 season will be like :)

That sucks about DJ. I hope he gets it figured out. Did he check out of the program before or after JJ came on board? I really hope that Szymon can bulk up, because I imagine he'll get lost in the shuffle of personnel in '09 if he doesn't get on the field in '08.

As for DJ's height, that's what he's listed at both on Rivals and the SMU website.

what about Julian Herron? Is he expected to compete for playing time as a LB this year? Don't know if he's added some weight, but wasn't he supposed to have good speed for a LB and thought to be a pretty good prospect?

Julian would rather play at SS than LB from what I hear, it's what he likes to do more and believes could do better at.

Would you rather have somebody [deleted] at LB, not realising that he's a better SS? The guys are essentially being allowed to try out whatever position they want for spring so let Julian be!
