Notes (misquoted because I don't type fast enough):

- McMackin is now toast of Waikiki. "June was leaving - I was planning on going with June."

- Senator: "Bottom line is we didn't respond to our coach as we should have. We didn't treat him as our winningest coach. We paid heavily for that."

- New QB Tyler Graunke: "felt kind of abandoned. Me & JJ bonded for four years, and everything was supposed to be perfect. Then he kind of just leaves."

- McMackin on staying at UH: "What changed my mind is carrying on the journey that June started. They want to stay at this level, and keep going to BCS games."

- Some linebacker: "They didn't know how good they had it until he was gone."

- Announcer: 1,000 season ticket deposits were taken the day after McMackin was hired.

- Graunke: "We're not taking a step back. It's a new era. June Jones and Colt Brennan are gone. Now Coach McMackin and Ty Graunke this year."

JUNE JONES:

"Was a very difficult decision, think that will always be my home, part of me will always be there. Think my departure helped make some things happen that needed to happen.

(Bunch of Hawaii stuff)

"(Biggest challenge at SMU) Changing the mindset of these guys, convincing them they can win, etc."

---------------------

OK, a lot less SMU stuff than I expected/hoped...

I like the dated picture they used of him during the phone interview... He should bring back that Stache so he can be PB's stunt double.
"I'm a little different than your normal Texas coach, but I get it done, and we win."
