New SMU DC is...Tom Mason, former linebackers coach at Fresno State...according to this board.

Back to the issue at hand. My initial reaction: the guy who's been LB coach at Fresno State for the last 7 years? Seriously? That's the best we could do?

Bulldog linebackers have been a strength on the team ever since his arrival ... in 2006, Mason coached Dwayne Andrews into a premier linebacker in the WAC, earning First Team All-WAC honors ... in 2005 Andrews was named to the second team All-WAC ... Andrews finished in the top 10 in the WAC in tackles with 87... in 2004 sophomore Marcus Riley was leading the team in tackles and on his way to All-WAC status before being injured against USC and missing the final two WAC games ... a key part of the Bulldog defense that has led the WAC in each of the last two seasons ... I believe it got deleted becuase JJ put these names out at the fundraiser dinner tonight but asked this info not to go out for 24 hrs.....out of respect, the post on MM.com releasing the info was also deleted......why dont we delete this again also since coach asked nicely and all...... ![]()
It came from JJ's mouth. You will just have to trust those of us who heard it until the formal announcement is made. JJ asked that it not be made public but the MM guys heard it and ran with it. There will also be a special teams coach but he is not under contract yet.
