I am glad that we don't open with Tech this year. While Texas State isn't a pushover, it will be good to have a full game under our belt before we have to venture to Lubbock. Should give us a chance to open with a W and sort out kinks with the offense and defense.

In Coach Jones book, in his first year at Hawaii, he broke up the season into quarters. He was try to help the players focus on a few wins at a time and not get overwhelmed with a loss to the likes of USC.
I don't know if he'll take the same approach at SMU, but, it worked more than once with his teams in the past.
With that said, I say Texas Tech will be the toughest challenge because of playing them in Lubbock. They can beat them, but it could be a marathon game.

The season hasn't even started. Its OK to have some fun and dream.
Reality will unmercifully crash down upon all of us once the season starts.

Forget Tech. Not putting much hope in that game.
Southern Miss will be the toughest game.

I think we have a shot at Southern Miss. Its a home game and we should match up well against them. I'm hoping our speed will kill them.

? Not the road game to the defending conference champs? I vote that UCF will be tough.

OOC: Obviously Tech in Lubbock.
CUSA: Southern Miss will probably be the toughest, but it helps that we will have them at Ford this year. C Florida loses their stud RB Kevin Smith to the NFL Draft, so we might have a better chance against them this next season even though the game will be there.

D1 Stop!!! That is the wrong attitude. I would venture to say that if the press were to ask JJ "can you name a team that you don't think SMU can beat this year" he would say "No, I think we can beat every one of them if we "believe" in ourselves and play to our potential".
SMU fans and players must Police each other and nip any negative thoughts from each others minds.. What we think, say and visualize we will project and create.
