The Mustang Club Young Alumni will be hosting their 2nd Annual Kick-off party this thursday from 8-10pm at the Green Room in Deep Ellum. Coach Bennnet will be attending and will speak. There will be drink specials, a raffle for prizes and live music. The rooftop of the Green Room has been reserved for this event. Feel free to come and get fired up about Mustang Football. Athletic personnel will be on hand to sign-up for season tickets and to join the Mustang Club.

This year, our tailgate will feature a trailer with three TV's, a bar and a satellite so that we can pick-up college games around the country. We're very excited about this coming year and I'm glad you are going to make it out to the party. We will have a website up and running as well.

See ya at the party on thursday. Bring friends. Bring women.

I would say that you wouldn't feel out of place if you were 30 or under.

I expect you to be there, Johnny Rock, with your lovely wife. Bennet enjoyed your last conversation.

DiamondM has stated on many occasions she will stay a member as long as she possibly can. My guess is they would have to physically prevent her from attending...as long as she can raise a glass, she'll be there!

I'm of the philosophy of not turning anybody away from an SMU event.

No kidding. They're not going to be carding at the door, are they? Show up in your SMU gear and make some noise - it'll be nice to see a crowd in Dallas getting fired up over SMU.

Actually Red Raider, by Alumni Association standards I still am a "young alumni." Qualification is 10 years after graduation or under 35. However, by Athletic Department and Mustang Club standards, I am not "young alumni," which is 5 years after graduation. I have never received a Young Mustang Club mailing, and by virtue of being out of town for the first 5 years after graduation (for law school and then my first job out of state), I never got the season ticket discount that the athletic department offers to "young alumni."

And I'm still bitter.

Incidentally Eddie P, the alumni band is rehearsing tomorrow night from about 7-8:30. I can't promise anything, but would you be interested in a visit from the alumni band for some spirit songs?

Unfortunately, we have hired a popular local band to play the event, so we don't have an immediate need for any more talented musicians at the event. Otherwise I think it would be a great addition. I would ask if we could hear you at our tailgate this year, but we are so close to you guys, we can hear y'all every game.

So anyone under 35 is welcome?
Do we need to make reservations, or just show up?
