SMU Uniform Update

The uniforms for the 2007-2008 football season will be released in a fan/media friendly event during the summer months, during June-July. This is done intentionally in order to capitalize on the traditional "dead period" for both SMU Athletics, and football in general, and keep SMU both in the news and on people's minds.

While fans are encouraged not to hold their breath waiting for them, two to four months is a bit long to hold it, in the end they will not be disappointed in the set-up and execution of introducing the fans to the new uniforms. Another opportunity for SMU faithful to get on campus, meet and greet, see them in person, have a snack and a beverage, and get closer to the athletic scene.

I think it would be a good idea for the first time to reveal the jerseys to be at the Spring Game

Good for you. Thank god you were there to point out my error. I'm sure that everyone is now expecting to show up and get to see last years uniforms.

Patience. I actually like having something SMU-related to look forward to this summer. Spring game will be interesting enough, and the focus will be on the players and the new system. Save the new unis for a time when there isn't much else to talk about.

We did the same thing when we introduced the infamous blue helmet and uniforms a few years back. Nothing new from the marketing department.

Except I know about this one. For some reason then, even though we were M-Club members, we got no correspondence from the athletic department... except when it was time to renew.

You know about this one because you read it on Ponyfans. It's not on the website. Did we get an email or mailer?

No. You make a valid point. They still have time to screw this up too.

Very possible, but unlikely this time around (I hope)...
