From College Football News:

SMU Spring Practice Begins: March 3 Game: April 5
The early spring buzz ... The firing of Phil Bennett and eventual hiring of June Jones on the Hilltop creates a change of culture for Mustang players. Not only will they be adapting to new playbooks and terminology on both sides of the ball, but they’ll also have to get used to more media attention. With Jones comes the high-powered Run and Shoot attack and an increase in attention at a school that hasn’t produced this many football headlines since getting hit with the NCAA death penalty two decades ago. SMU needs a system, or a blueprint, of how to rebuild a program, which is exactly what Jones is capable of delivering.
The big spring question is ... How long before SMU looks like Hawaii? The bigger question will be at quarterback, where Justin Willis, who has the talent and potential to blow up in the new offense, has been suspended indefinitely from the team for the dreaded “violation of team rules.â€

Obviously not

The winter edition of DC's Texas Football was written when it looked like McMackin was going to be our DC. Magazines generally run a long way ahead on deadlines - it's hard to get everything right when a program is in transition.

Clearly those guys are clueless. Biggest offensive loss being All-American Hero Sledge? While Stallion would argue that he didn't even belong on the field, I think he was pretty awesome last year. But I'd still put the biggest loss as a toss-up between OLs Ben Poynter and Peveto and (now) Willis (only because I'm praying one of the other QBs will step up in a big way, otherwise we're screwed). Best returning offensive player? Who knows in this offense. Maybe Mapps. Sanders would certainly be on the top of any list.

As for biggest defensive loss, don't forget Cory Muse.

As for best returning defensive player... I dunno. Bonilla is certainly the elder statesman, a leader, and a guy who's come really far, but best returning defensive player? Let's just say I certainly hope a 200 lb. linebacker isn't our defensive MVP again...

Heard from a friend of a friend that Willis got kicked out of Ozonas on Monday, for being a little too young.

He's not yet 21?

you don't have to be 21 to be in Ozona's (unless you're drinking)

Willis isn't gone. The writer pretty much just layed out the importance of Willis getting his act together and being the starter next season.

If bonilla starts it will be a bad sign - I like his energy but he is 40 pounds light and 3 inches short for his position.

You heard it from yourself? Are you a reliable source? Can you trust yourself not to be lying to yourself? I want answers and I want them now! Sit tight, bucko, and somebody call in the damned purple hippo immediately!

Tell that to Dat Nguyen, Lofa Tatupu, and Zac Thomas...ZT is 5'11 228...

I think everyone needs to realize there is a big difference between measurables and the ability to be at the right place and make a play...Especially in college...
