It is almost as though a previous horrible general has been replaced by a more intelligent and cunning one...

Other universities offer Sports Management through the business schools...front office work-type stuff...I wish we could offer that because I would change my major to that.

Granted it still needs Faculty Senate approval, but I imagine they wouldn't announce something like this unless they were pretty sure it was going to be approved. The other thing I thought was interesting is that they are also working on changing some of the transfer hour requirements too.

It's official. Icicles in hell are now forming. When Dr. Turner told June Jones this would happen and then said it at the press conference at Jones' hiring, I think many thought this was lip service.

It ain't lip service anymore. This is welcomed news.

I believe this is a good move -- not just for athletics, but for the school. We produce amazing business people, why not begin producing amazing agents, sports officials, etc. (with the side effect of having a major athletes might possibly be able to connect with)?

I am an engineer -- it's what I connect with, it's what makes sense to me. I like hands-on type things, and engineering is a parallel with that; I get to put into action all the things I have picked up and learned about along the way. This is analogous to an athlete. They have been playing sports for a long time, and know some things about the inner workings of how a program runs and develops. They can make connections between their everyday lives and their studies, which I think is critical to the deep understanding, and ultimately the success and mastery, of a subject.

That is all.

Is an Ice cycle a bicycle made out of ice? Wouldn't it freeze to your butt?
