Was looking over the Spring Roster and saw a name I was unfamiliar with. Aaron Cheatham. I googled his name and got this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juQxbRDgz-s. Is he a Bennett recruit or a walk-on?

He's small, but he reminds me of a guy that played for Alabama a few years ago, Tyrone Prothro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53imC4zojfc

Wow, we're comparing a walk-on wide receiver with a highlight video of 10 yard gains to an All-American SEC receiver....Nobody has reminded me less of Prothro.

I meant more in terms of size and speed. I wasn't making any statements about his future prospects. But in fairness TP was never an All-American.

I play rugby at SMU and he was on the team for the first semester before walking on. He scored 4 tries in his first 3 games or something close which is damn impressive. He's a smaller guy, but he can fly down the field and is real shifty. Good hands too

He's a walk-on, but last I heard he quit.

Aaron was a walk-on who was encouraged to contact the coaches for a walk-on try-out. He had speed and agility and had a very good chance at playing next year but he decided football was not in his future less than two weeks with the team - says its just not his thing and the time dedication was too much, needed to focus on academics more.

With no disrespect to young Aaron, I never liked the idea of a kid named Cheatham on the SMU team. I guess now he will follow his family footsteps into law. (Thus triggering the Three Stooges law firm joke of Dewey, Cheatham, & Howe)

Highlights reminded me a bit of Ryan Nunez, the UT slot receiver from a few years back. I think he could have helped our team, but if he needs to focus on academics, good for him.
