Greetings from the SMU Mustang Club! The new year is off to a great start as over 2,500 individuals have pledged their support of SMU student-athletes and our athletic department. This figure accounts for over $1,000,000 in cash gifts received since January 1st, with contributions continuing to arrive daily. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to building champions here at SMU!
As the fiscal year comes to a close, we have some important and exciting information to announce concerning the Mustang Club. Beginning June 1, 2008 the new Mustang Club membership year will run June 1st thru May 31st. This decision was approved by the Mustang Club Board of Directors and will be great for our organization. The new membership year dates will match the University fiscal year dates, thus making gift administration more efficient. Furthermore, it allows us to create a benefits structure for the Mustang Club that follows the SMU Athletics sports season. So each new Mustang Club membership year will now coincide with a new year of SMU Athletics!
How does this change affect you? Well, if you have already renewed your membership in the Mustang Club, your current membership will be extended through May 31, 2009. That’s right – you will receive an additional five months of membership for your contribution to the Mustang Club! If you have not renewed your pledge for this year, please make your commitment by May 31, 2008 in order to maximize your Mustang Club membership. Each membership account paid in full by this date will receive a chance to win an away game travel package for two to the SMU-Navy football game on October 25th!
Another new benefit for 2008-2009 is a personalized Mustang Club membership card. This summer you will receive a membership card with your name and respective giving level for use throughout the sports season. The card is your ticket in for post-game football parties in the Hall of Champions, basketball halftime receptions and other fun Mustang Club events and activities including our new Mustang Club tent on The Boulevard.
As you can see, an exciting year of SMU Athletics is on the way. Thank you for your support of the Mustang Club and for giving our student-athletes the opportunity to discover what the SMU experience is all about – academic excellence, rich tradition, athletic spirit and a community that extends far beyond graduation.
