That's one of my favorite videos to show to my UT-alum dad. Can't say he's not an SMU fan, though. He's got season tickets for both the Horns and Ponies.
I was there!!!! Admittedly I was seven, but I was there.
I also like the first 'related' video that youtube had there - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqlid2F2 ... re=related I love the band playing Peruna at breakneck speed, they need to bring that back. That's one of my favorite memories of SMU football (us driving and the band playing that song as freaking fast as possible). Also you can hear it here, from more recent times, in this clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef3ARf9mDQg&NR=1 Also, as such a sweet bonus, you get to see a despondent Franchiphoney stalking the New Mexico sidelines at the end of the clip. ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
No more ridiculous than this...don't you just love it?

Man, what a great memory. Thanks for sharing. Yes, we were playing the Longhorns, but did you see how filled the stadium was and how LOUD the Mustang fans were? I remember a whole lot of support for the Mustangs when they were winning. There is absolutely no excuse for not filling Ford when the winning returns! BTW - I miss those uniforms.... "Once the number 3, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

I think the most ridiculous aspect of that clip is the crowd at Ownby. How much would we love that sort of crowd at games?
Well, in the video Ownby is about 2/3 full. It held, what 22k? That would give you 14,500 or so.
I was in school and at that game - that play is my favorite memory of SMU football - well, that and beating ND in the Aloha Bowl. Good times.

That was my thoughts. Haven't been lucky enough to see an SMU crowd that big yet (and no I don't count those Texas Tech filled games as SMU crowds). ![]()
It's at Texas Stadium. You can tell towards the end when they show some of the upper boxes.
I think he was talking about the other clip in this thread, which was the game vs New Mexico post-DP
That will always be among my favorites as well. So much fun. Why don't they do that anymore?
I would say but I'm sure I'll get flamed by some band alum.
