Yeah, saw this in the newsfeed this morning. Not good for us, hopefully steve-o really likes his gig.

That's not the question, do you like this gig?
Seriously, this scares the hell outta me. I don't know Steve personally, but I'd bet AD at ND is his dream job. I like the idea of locking him in an attic until this passes.
Yes...let's go for a few seasons at .500 first. Right now we're at about one per decade.
The alma mater can always be a great lure, and if you're ND you talk to him. And they may be sold on him and bring him in just because of his fundraising background. If he takes it, I wouldn't blame him.
But I think the timing of is a little tough here because he just poured a bunch of resources and committed to June Jones and Matt Doherty. I think there is some loyalty that he must show to them. I may be wrong, but personally, I think he's here a little longer to see this moving in the right way. He needs a little more of a successful track record here to be more attractive. We'll see.
The guy was a captain for NDs national championship team. The day he decided to quit being a beancounter to pursue athletic administration, his goal was the Notre Dame AD job.
The bottom line is that if Notre Dame wants him, he's gone and there's nothing SMU can do about it. The good news (for us) is that there ought to be more well-qualified people for the job than Orsini. He has made some potentially good coaching hires, but no results to show for it (yet). He does have the fundraising skills, and not that any place can ever have TOO much money, but ND has plenty of money. They want a guy that can run the show. Unfortunately for Steve-O, this job probably came open at least one year too soon for him to get it.
