Do we know what an AD at Notre Dame typically makes?

It isn't going to come down to money. That being said, I seriously doubt Orsini would make significantly more at ND than he is making now. SMU pays very well. For exaple, Copeland pulled out the NC State AD search when he learned he would have to take a pay cut.

That may be, but I seriously doubt Notre Dame and NC State have the same kind of budget. There's a prestige/elitist attitude at ND (like Texas) that compels them to be among the best paying athletic departments in the country, from administrators down to staff - even part-timers. Without knowing what Steve-O makes at SMU, or what the AD makes up there, I bet he'd get a pretty serious bump in pay. Maybe double?

Even we don't cling to past glory as much as ND does.

FYI, the highest paid AD in the Big XII is at Kansas making $450k per year. Ohio State's AD makes around that much. Orsini is already over $300k. ND, aside from Weiss, has been pretty cheep when it comes to athletics. They are not going to set the bar for AD salaries.

You think DeLoss Dodds doesn't make more than the Kansas AD? It might be written differently, like a bonus for getting out of bed in the morning, but he's got to be making more than a half a million, don't you think?

those salaries do seem low for running the big programs involving or approaching 100 Million Dollar + budgets like the UTs, NDs, Michigans, Ohio Sts of the world
