UCF's Kay suspended from team after weekend arrest

Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Central Florida running back Ricky Kay was suspended from the team following an arrest over the weekend.

According to an affidavit, the 19-year-old was charged with preventing or hindering firefighter equipment and damage of property. Kay was arrested Saturday morning, posted $1,100 bond and was released.

Authorities said Kay had been at a nightclub and when returning, he hit a sign and a pressure gauge attached to the fire sprinkler system. The total damage was estimated at $5,200.

UCF officials say in a statement that Kay will remain suspended until resolution of the charges.

Kay came to UCF in 2007 as a walk-on. He appeared in 13 games last season.

The starting back went to the Lions on the second day of the draft. Kevin Smith. The back up was another guy named Smith from Mansfield TX.
He left the team in spring. I have never seen Kay run the ball.
So they have no back!

No running game could mean a rather drastic fall from the top of the C-USA heap. I don't know what they have without this guy, but if they're as thin as advertised in the backfield, the passing game will be affected, too.

At least this might give us a better shot at this team this year. Without their major running talent, and their very successful QB from last year, they may have real problems putting up points.

But can we stop their line from mauling our QB, that is the question.

Before predicting how this affects our game with UCF, I'd like to know how long the suspension is expected to last. If this is one of those slap-on-the-wrist things where O'Leary looks him in the eye and says "son, you shouldn't have done this, so I'm not going to let you participate in 2-a-days," that doesn't help us a hell of a lot.

thats a B at best...i think the grading system has had a rather forgiving curve lately

and last time i checked it wasn't the run stopping that was the most heart wrenching part of our D

What if I made him an I-back?

Then he could be the Inotcoming back.

(plus, jtstang is the only true grader)

UCF has bigger problems than lack of a back.

The players don’t trust their head coach

All four players recall that O'Leary said to Plancher, "That's a bunch of [expletive] out of you, son," in the huddle. O'Leary denied cursing at Plancher before he died...

Quite an honor from a friend of Dr. Jeske!!

But I will add this. A person on this site once sent me a PM and said, if I remember the quote......"you are a Nazi and even worse, becoming like Stallion." Not exact words, but close. I copied it off and pinned it on my bedroom wall.
