We need to get good NOW NOW NOW so we don't get screwed on conferences again.

Not to put any additional pressure on anyone but we sure could use a bowl game this year. The b-ball team needs to improve but football drives this thing.

well the big east has eclipsed that number already so i dont see why it would be so hard for other conferences to just absorb teams with potential and there would be nowhere to go but up with the additional revenue and pub...people on the board tend to be thinking way too short term and not the positive effects 6-10 years down the road from a merger when things really get kicked off.

I don't think I'll ever see SMU in a major conference again. Even if we acheive rediculous success here with JJ, I don't think we're going to see it.

That is so overrated as a point for SMU. You think the Big 12 and SEC don't play in the Dallas TV market already?

Maybe I was unclear. I did not mean play games in Dallas. I meant play on TV with big ratings in Dallas. SMU does not offer the Dallas TV market to anyone.

We have 5 this year if you count CBS-CS.

If you don't count them, we have one this year...and we had two last year.

We offer it; we don't deliver it. There is a difference.

Maybe so, but I don't see how the difference makes us more attractive to any conference that already sees a big share of the DFW TV market....

I don't see it; it doesn't work. With 16 team conferences, assuming 4 nonconference games per year, you basically would have seven division games, one cross divisional game and four nonconference games. The divisions would have no common cross divisional opponents.

By way of example, you could basically have the SWC as a division and the Big 8 as a division; the winner of each division plays in a conference championship and the winner gets the auto. berth in the BCS.
