Ran into Chase Smith (junior offensive lineman from Flower Mound) a couple of times Thursday, and got some good news. Saw him first in the weight room, where he squatted over 500 pounds (528, I think) twice and did it easily didn't look uncomfortable at all .... aside from all that weight on his shoulders. Also saw him bench press a few hundred pounds, but I don't know exactly how much  all I know is that he was lifting (easily) more than most folks could roll downhill.
(For those who don't know him, Smith played in just the season opener last year before missing the rest of the season rehabbing shoulder injuries.)
Then I saw him on the field, working and running with the other linemen, and he looked good  moved well, took part in everything. Afterward, I ran into him and asked him how his shoulders felt, and he said "great  better than they have felt in a long time." I know he's a tough guy, so I didn't know if he was just being tough while he kept working on the shoulders.
"They feel great," he said. "Oh yeah, I'll be ready to go this year."
