One guy over there says "June won't be able to recruit thugs to SMU like he did to Hawaii." I had to read it twice to make sure I was, in fact, on a UH message board.
Another guy says Rice should crush us.
I get the idea they've forgotten that 2 years ago they had to convert a 4th and 30 and avoid a sack in the endzone to beat crappy ol' us.

Still sucks seeing Alridge run all over the place in your head, huh? Somebody tackle that guy!

It's funny how consecutive years of bowl game appearances make Cougar High oblivious to the undercurrents in CUSA. One of the dad's that I coach Little League baseball with is a UH die hard and everytime I mention June Jones and the 2006 game it goes in one ear and out the other. Personally I think Mike Sumlin(spelling?) has the potential to really set that program back if he doesn't get off on the right foot.

What's sad is the fact that the Mustangs allowed the Coogs to do that.

Twice. Or maybe the other time was 3rd and 30.

Keep in mind that these people also went to Cougar High, which automatically means they lack reason and intelligence.

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

Kevin Sumlin is doing very well so far and hired TTech's offensive coordinator. We'll see how that goes since Leach runs the offense. Jeffcoat is also on staff.
2006 was phenomenal but how about 2005? 29-24 Ponies in Houston.
By the time UH and SMU play this fall, the R&S should be clicking on all cylinders. At least Pardee's version was by early November vs. UT in 1987 (60-40 thrashing).
Oh, and there's bad blood between the two UHs due to the fight after the Hawaii Bowl about four years ago. We know Colt Brennan's record at Colorado right?

Sorry guys but to this point we ain't got sh*t on "Cougar High". Since 2002, when the illustrious Phil Bennett took the reins at SMU, our record is 18-52 compared to 39-36 for Houston. In the same time span Houston went to 4 bowl games and won a CUSA Championship. Our record against them is 1-2 during the time.
Also, their record would also be a whole, whole lot better if their schedule was as easy as ours. In those 6 seasons they have played Alabama, Oregon (twice), Oklahoma St., S. Carolina, Miami (twice), Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi St. (twice), Michigan.
Don't get me wrong. I think we will become a very good CUSA team under June Jones but for Houston to think they are anything but a whole lot better than us to this point would be pretty absurd.

Thanks Judas/Benedict Arnold/Pye.

UH is not a "whole lot better" than SMU in football and not even close to being better in any other category.

You have to give Houston a lot of credit for what they've done the past several years. However, I view that program in the same way that I view TCU in that the ceiling for those programs is not anywhere near where SMU's ceiling is once we got our sh*t together. Once this thing gets rolling its going to be really, really fun.
