As a new SMU Dad, I thought I would put this question up for help.

I'm sure with this group I shall learn many invaluable things to speed me on my way to the full knowledge of all things SMU.

Thanks.

As I live in socal I am only planning on coming for the TCU game.

But if SMU Football performs as well as we all hope that may change.

I believe I understand Pony Ears as that is similar to the USC "V". (UCLA mocks USC by waving Dollar Bill$ in cadence with the "V").

I've just listened to Varsity. I like it!

Is the Boulevard the main entrance off of Mockingbird?

Yes, The Boulevard is Bishop Boulevard which is the main entrance to campus. That is where the tailgating takes place... :D

Losing kind of sucks the life out of traditions. Hopefully we will win and start some.

Many like the Boulevard. I usually skip it , have lunch somewhere and just go to the game. I have too many enemies to hang around crowded places for too long.

I usually wear white to games so I got that going for me.

JT has the tradition of stealing mrydel's seats. I guess that's something.

New fans are fortunate in that SMU doesn't have slave like devotion to 'tradition' like Aggies. The 'traditions' we have are fairly new ones.

The first is showing up on the Vard before games and having a good time.

Another tradition is also new and not well known outside this board. That is the tradition of no expectations.

Our students have a tradition of leaving at halftime to get ready for the next party on their social calendar.

Another tradition is that team runs over to the student section after the game to bond with the 15 or so students still left.

We have a tradition of trying to destroy athletics though I think this tradition is not as popular as when Pye was the university president.

Another tradition is to have the male alumni go to the game and the wives of those alumni go to Nieman Marcus.

One last tradition that isn't sports related but vastly important to you is that coeds at SMU never change a flat tired. That is why they invented cells phones so the coeds can call Daddy to take care of the flat tire.

My daughter lives to make them all come true.

SMU Traditions

1. Pop the collar on your Lacoste shirt
2. Drink way too much beer
3. Brag about how much money daddy makes
4. Pass out drunk before the game starts

That should do it right?

I think he was asking about the fans' traditions and not the players' traditions.
