Depends on your point of view. Not sure who it was, but someone wrote a couple of weeks ago that his - or anyone's - departure can't be rated a good or bad thing until a replacement is found, and that's absolutely right. If Steve-O goes to Notre Dame, only then can Kevin White's departure from South Bend be graded as a positive or negative move for the school.

well considering how paranoid this board is he might have just decided to lay low before making a formal announcement

I definitely see Orsini going as a bad thing for us. I dearly hope he stays. The number of things he has accomplished while here to improve our situation is remarkable--facilities, coaches, less recruiting restrictions. I think he really gets it and has a plan to improve our entire athletic dept.
The rumor was that we would know by the end of this week hence my question.

you'd think with the amount of media attention on the ND job that there would be some prior mention of a pending decision well before the announcement but there has been absolutely no mention based on a Google search in several weeks.

You make that sound like it's a bad thing.

I would love to see the headline: "Orsini Shuns ND for SMU"

Huh? Is Steve-O replacing Richie Sexson or something?
He is in town, I gather, so if there's an announcement today in South Bend, it would be someone else. But there's no whispers of a press conference up there, from what I hear.
