Someone screwed up when putting this guide together and forgot to include the great Wes Hopkins among the Defensive Greats and also Mustangs in the Pros sections of the guide.

Disgraceful considering his contributions to our great teams of the early 80's

That's incredible. Wes Hopkins is a big name at SMU. Have you made this known to the sports information director?

Do you mean Mustangs in the Pros, All-time or current. Because ESPN says SMU only has one, Justin Rogers. aaaaanddd some schools have enough players to make up an NFL roster....yea, sounds like a great promotion for recognition, whereas some less prominent D1-AA schools have around 10. I see, this thread is a joke and you're playing us!

Although an All-time SMU in the pros section would be cool, it doesn't have the impact that other schools have. I remember looking at USC's media guide year after year, and their NFL Draft picks went about 10 pages deep in small print, if not more. I don't think it would make sense in SMU's case given new page limits on Media Guides as directed by the NCAA.

I think that you must be the joke. The Mustangs in the Pros section has pics of Michael Carter, Eric Dickerson, Reggie Dupard, Craig James, Reggie Dupard, Louie Kelcher, Don Meredith, etc. but no Wes Hopkins who was All-Pro for the Philadelphia Eagles for many years.

Oh I have no doubt that SMU football has its fair share of star quality like the guys you mentioned. But I would assume that most media guides list current players in the pros, not all-time. Those guys are usually recognized in other ways throughout the media guide.

I'm not sure I understand the original post. Hopkins is listed and has a note in the all-time greats section and is listed in the Mustangs In The Pros section. He's not left out of either section, let alone both. With an NCAA-mandated limit of 208 pages, we just can't put in pictures of them all. Sorry.

Per the 2008 SMU Football Media Guide, pages 188 & 197, Hopkins "enjoyed an All-Pro NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1983-93."
