Orsini's comments about our efforts to raise 80mil in facilities upgrades got me thinking. What are the most pressing issues facing the athletic department from a facilities standpoint? I know JJ made the comment that he wanted an indoor practice facility after we had some spring practices rained out. Just curious, what would it cost us to build a baseball facility? Orsini did say it was on his radar.

We need to renovate Moody Coliseum.
And as for baseball...to give an idea, this beauty of a ballpark (more than what we would need) in Corpus Christi was built for $18 million:

Perhaps we could get Stallion to pay for it and we could name the stadium
'WhataStallion' field. Horseburgers our specialty.
GO PONIES!!!

1. Indoor practice facility
2. New natatorium
3. Soccer-only facility (name: SCHELLAS HYNDMAN STADIUM), allowing Westcott to become a track-only facility (to include the hopefully-soon-arriving men's track team!)
4. Moody makeover
5. Finish the golf center at Dallas Athletic Club, or wherever it is

As for a baseball facility, we really do not have room on campus, but, I bet we could strike a deal with the Dallas Parks department and build a nice facility at Glencoe Park. There is plenty of room and there is a baseball diamond already in place.
Glencoe Park is located across Central Expressway from the Mrs Bairds facility. Real close to campus. All we would have to do is build dug outs, stands, concession pavillion and a home run fence. Could probably be accomplished for less than $5 mil.

not a bad idea, UT has proved that you dont need a nice facility immediately on campus to make a program work

They use a facility on Park Lane. Sometimes, though, they don't practice and just get money from SMU and light it on fire for the fun of it.
You know, girls these days.
