All I know....

On a hot late summer afternoon, you can drive downtown near 7th St. and hang a right at the Stadium. You slow down to see if anyone's out there, and then you see "The Sign". Park your car in one of the old dirt parking lots, and as you get out, and walk towards the cleat worn field, pocked with gopher holes, you'll encounter a small sign with a message atop a chain-link fence: ``Never Stop Competing.'' This sun worn sign has been hanging there for many years, and has come to symbolize the true team spirit of the San Jose State Spartans. I make no guarantees about whether my team will execute well this coming Saturday when they play SMU, or if they will run for a hundred yards, or even produce a single point.

But I do know one thing: they will Never Stop Competing. Not until the gun sounds and final whistle has been blown. Then they will cross the field and shake the hands of those whom they have competed against, and wish them luck. And this, my friends, is all I know.
