DMN changes with SMU and college coverage

Talked with some folks familiar with Sports Day and they said the college coverage will look completely from now on. According to these people, this is what they know.
1. Kate is no longer our beat writer. That is supposedly going to Bobby Roquemore. She will handle SMU and TCU. However, she is supposed to follow June Jones every move this year.
2. Kate is supposedly moving over to cover the Big 12. Chuck Carlton is the national college beat writer -- think he was already in that role.
3. No "beat writer" in Austin, Lubbock, College Station and Norman. Because the staff keeps trimming down, they are going to just follow the news with whoever is available. That could be a reason why Chip Brown left. I guess the college writers are Chuck, Kate, Bobbi, Brandon George and maybe a couple of people. Brian Davis who was doing A&M is now a Cowboys beat writer.
Again, this is what I have been told. I guess we'll find out how it meshes when workouts start and bylines start showing up to stories.
Just passing it along. I hope our "journalist" Scoops can handle the quasi-SMU angle here.
