This is interesting:

"While Tulsa holds the spot now, I do think teams such as SMU and Houston can take it away. SMU will bring the run-and-shoot to the league, which will frustrate a lot of offenses. June Jones' Hawaii teams weren't known for their bad behavior, but as you can see from the WAC timeline, they were involved in a few altercations."

"Nov. 10, 2007 -- Fresno State and Hawaii fans get into an altercation in the stands at Aloha Stadium. Water bottles were hurled, trash was thrown, and spit was spat."

Oh No "spit was spat"
:D

I can see Cougar High fans acting like that, I think SMU is a little more self respecting.
:D

I guess that's better than it being drooled or dribbled.

No, Arkansas fans were the ones I remember that spat spit. Of course, some of them probably drooled it too...

When you are missing your front teeth, it is hard not to drool!

anyone else a little concerned that the run and shoot will frustrate a lot of offenses? what a brilliant piece of insight

The way some teams play defense it is often "offensive"

How does the Run and Shoot frustrate a lot of offenses? It's not the kind of offense that encourages time of possession so it won't keep the other team's offense off the field much, which is one of the few conceivable ways one team's offense could frustrate another team's offense.

Maybe an offense could be so good that other offenses see that no matter how hard they try they can never be as good as that offense and then as highly competitive athletes that will frustrate them (those that run the offenses that is not as good as the best offense ever). So in their frustration they start to play badly, making them even more frustrated since they are actually getting farther away from acheiving their goal of being as good as this great offense.

Or maybe it's easier for an offense to frustrate a defense as opposed to another offense but I only know so much about football I could be wrong.

It would be one of my happiest days on SMU's campus if the fans got into a brawl over a football game. That would imply that 1) There were fans 2) They actually cared enough to fight over the product on the field.

Edit: Fixed the "I" confusion.

Have you forgotten the Tech game, it was 2003 or 2004? When Bennett went after Leach and threw a punch at him and connected with their strength coach who jumped in front of Leach. That emptied the benches and a few fans hit the field.

I want stand clearing brawls. The fights amongst players (and coaches) are to be expected.

Careful - such violence is very non-PC, and would result in many students getting kicked out of school. Fan enthusiasm is too much of a legal liability for SMU.
