He was one of the players on the float with the Alumni Band and Robert Lee Kobb for the HP 4th of July parade.

Several people on this board have said that all the float participants were freshman players who were wearing jerseys of other players. I believe (although never certain) that it has been verified not only that Mapps was not on the float, but that he is gone from the program.

He was gone at the beginning of the summer. I highly doubt the university would have allowed him to be on a float representing the university. What if he was harboring a grudge, thought he had been dismissed unfairly, etc.? The mere potential that he could have acted up makes it extremely unlikely that he was involved in anything representing SMU.

It might have been Ryan Smith, who will wear Mapps' old #20 this season.
