What teams does SMU play in the next couple of years for the non-conference games?

2007

Note we do not play TCU in 2006, and I don't know which games are home and which are away for the 2005-6 North Carolina games.

Edit: Dropped North Carolina."

Interesting news, if true, we are trying to drop wake forest. Yes, it might be better for us to play other Texas schools, but I'd like to see the Mustangs play in Winston Salem. I'd, as an alum, like a game close to my home.

Go Ponies!

I kind of thought those Wake football dates were in order to get the Deacons to play us in basketball for a home and home. The timing was real coincidental. If so, I would be surprised to see us change that. Add to that our A.D.'s friendships from his UVa. days, I would be surprised to see that game changed. I could see the Northwestern game being changed.

Bennett wants to schedule his own games...he wants the benefit of scheduling to assist him with recruiting as well as enabling a winning program (see Snyder for KState, albeit, we have different circumstances that they do).

I remain hopeful we will end up in the same conference as TCU, but if not, Obviously we need to keep them on the non-conference slate. I like games with Baylor and TTech as they give us a measuring stick for where this program wants to be. The 2006 return to Lubbock will be a key date for Bennett's future as SMU's football coach. With Baylor and TCU coming to Ford Stadium in 2005, I will be really disappointed if we aren't strong enough to beat both of them by then.
