While driving, heard JJ on ESPN Charlottesville

Monday afternoon on business driving through central VA, I was listening to the local ESPN outlet in Charlottesville and they began an interview with JJ. Great fun. Wasn't sure how it may been covered elsewhere, but his confidence and commitment to SMU was great to hear again.

Surprisingly, he has specific and had little good to say about the admninistration at Hawaii and their lack of funding for FB. Said he began thinking about leaving 3 years ago and stayed last year to support Colt Brennan's last season.

He loves the situation at SMU and the support he is getting from administration and Steve Orsini to the value of a strong FB program and its impact on the overall perception of the universitt nationally.

The interviewer and June concluded that this new era will replace the reputation SMU has had for the last twenty years as the only school to receive the DP. He is looking forward, not back. A great legacy to build.

The interviewer was very impressed with him and possibilities for SMU, but surprised at June's feelings for Hawaii administration.

Thank the Lord for Colt Brennan deciding to stay his senior season.

Thanks for the post, WP. How did you enjoy your trip? Charlottesville is a beautiful city.

Love college towns and this is a very good one. I will be here with a client for the next several months. When the students return, I am sure the dynamics will be even better (not to mentioned the physical beauty.)

I'm sure the settlement on his contract where he has to pay $200,000 back didn't leave him feeling the love. It probably was confirmation that it was the right time to leave.

The University of Hawaii administration appears to be drowning in bureaucracy.

If and when we make a bowl game, can we make Colt Brennan the marshall of the parade?

Enjoy your time there. Charlottesville is one of my favorite places in the United States.

If you need restaurant recommendations/info/etc., let me know. It's been a few years since I've been up there, but I've spent some time in C-ville.

You can say that again.

Thanks for the recap WP. The more I hear about the guy, the more I'm convinced he'll turn the program around.
