OK, let's roll out the record predictions

It's a good pastime because it's August. I know some folks have thrown them out there on other threads. But hopefully, this thread can filter everything down.
I'll start.
Record: 4-8
Rationale: Developing the timing of this offense may last into October if not the whole season and the QB position may not be settled even if June wants to stick with one person. Defensively, you have a lot of movement of personnel and a lot of question marks. They may be a bit better but not much. Special teams may be terrific with Morstead and the Frank Gansz factor -- that can win a couple of games there.
While I do think it could be a wild year, I'm just not a believer this group has it in it to pull off a .500 season or winning season/bowl. I just hope that this year will move this program in the right direction for 2009 and 2010.

2-10
As I look at the schedule, I cannot predict that we beat anyone but TX State and Tulane. Memphis for homecoming is a maybe.

Impossible to predict right now given the last two years and the change of coach/system.
Fantasy best case: 7 wins.
Best case: 5 wins.
Worst case: 3 wins.

Willis starts, 7-5 and a bowl. Anyone else, 2-10.

I think our offense will be in warm-up mode the first four games of the season but starting w/ the Tulane game should be pretty potent. We have some experienced skill position guys (assuming willis starts), so I'm hoping they can adapt fairly well.
I think we start 1-3 which should catalyze the departure of our fickle fanbase, and end up 4-8 w/ wins over Texas State, Tulane, Memphis and UTEP. If we can steal the final game against Southern Miss for a fifth win then we'd be looking at a 3 game win streak to end the season. High hopes for '09.

BTW, Nice work on the site colors webbies.
O.K. On to predictions...
I really suck at this. I've completely blown it for like the last 8 years. So you probably ought to disregard me as an overly optimistic [deleted].
We beat Rice, Texas State, Tulane, UCF (who lost Kevin Smith + Joe Weatherford should be a Mustang, so if we lose I'll be pissed), UTEP and Southern Miss.
In addition, I think we'll take one or maybe even two from Tulsa (who we always play tough), Houston, Navy or Memphis.
So put me down for 7-5. Could even go 8-4 if things shake out right.

I think the Ponies go 6-6.
Wins against Rice, Texas State, Tulane, Houston, Memphis and Southern Miss. But you get passed over for a bowl game again.

If we overachieve: 5-7. A realistic possibility: 2-10.

Waiting until Jones names his starters at QB, all LB spots, 2 WR spots, one CB spot and FS before I would even think about predicting. I guess that says something right there. We have some athletes(most NOT freshman except Thompson, Banjo, V. Jones and whatever freshman gets a shot at WR) who I think could help us. If these non-freshman don't step up its going to definitely affect my prediction.

Relax. It's a prediction. I don't know if the entire offense will go on IR before the season start.

along those lines are we sure we would not be better off by moving Anthony Sowe back to OLB and letting Youri Yenga, Jourdan Johnson, Taylor Thompson and Dizer handle the DE spot. I think we really pretty good a DE except Johnson and Dizer missed spring practice and Thompson's a true freshman. I can live with developing those 4 guy's potential-think it may end up being our deepest position on the team. We could use more speed at LB though. Couldn't Sowe be a blitz LB we are looking for? What's his weight these days-listed in the program at 215-I'm sure he's bulked up some but he still physically fits better at LB. Sowe was a track guy in High school. I'd trade his 215 pounds for 250+ for Dizer, Johnson and Thompson and Sowe's speed for some of the guys at LB.
