Article about DL Mickey Dollens:

A week into his two-a-day workouts, Mickey Dollens is feeling the promise of a productive season at Southern Methodist University.

He’s hoping to have a chance to throw his weight around this year on the Mustang defensive line.

“My goals are to play up to my highest potential and to see as much field time as I can,â€

so he's 280 now. That makes me feel a bit better about or D line rotation, assuming he is part of it.

Sat next to him at the football banquet last year. A great kid! Smart, articulate and personable. Whether he can play or not, I do not know.

It is good to hear Dollins at 280 and Zac Thomas also now at 290 are both getting reps. with the first team DL. More depth for sure.

He was was at 230 or 240 so he might possibly be at 270 right now. He thinned down to a linebacker weight and looked like a horrible DL prospect...I still don't feel any better about him now..

More press on Dollens. He's not anyone's stepping stone, either. ;) :

Some football players look at practice like the last greasy sardine in the can.

Not Mickey Dollens.

The former Bartlesville High football thinks of practice as his opportunity to make his mark at Southern Methodist University.

Taking aim on his redshirt freshman year, Dollens already has secured a spot on the kickoff return team; he also is hoping to collect a lot of minutes with the first-team or second-team defense.

His favorite part of football?

You guessed it.

“It’s the practicing and preparation to kick off the season,â€
