"smoggy Dallas" - ??? - It looks pretty clean to me compared to most big cities I have visited.
"the patron coach of lost causes" - I doubt SMU is a "lost cause" or Jones would not be here. Otherwise an interesting article and some nice publicity. good article.
Really? What cities have you visited? Dallas is one of the smoggiest cities I've been around....it is not LA, but is still pretty bad. 10 Most Ozone-Polluted Cities 2007 Rank1 Metropolitan Area 1 Los Angeles-Long Beach-Riverside,CA 2 Bakersfield,CA 3 Fresno-Madera,CA 4 Visalia-Porterville,CA 5 Merced,CA 6 Houston-Baytown-Huntsville,TX 7 Sacramento-Arden-Arcade-Truckee,CA-NV 8 Dallas-Fort Worth,TX 9 New York-Newark-Bridgeport,NY-NJ-CT-PA 10 Philadelphia-Camden-Vineland,PA-NJ-DE-MD The source for the Design Values is EPA, communication from the Office of Air Quality Planning & Standards, Mark Schmidt, February 1, 2007.(12)
Lived in Medford NJ and worked in Cherry Hill outside of Philly/(Camden NJ) for a year - numerous trips to New York, LA, Chicago, Houston and most big cities in North America. I just found it odd of all the adjectives you could use to describe Dallas it would be "smoggy". Maybe "flat" "spread out" "greedy" "bigger" "oil baron" "land of JR" "cowboys" "conservative" "bumper-to-bumper" "gun-totin" "death penalty lovin" "god-fearin" "Buckle of the Bible belt" "million miles from the ocean" etc. From the American Lung Association (5/2008 ): Top Ten U.S. Cities Most Polluted by Short-Term Particle Pollution: 1) Pittsburgh, Pa.; 2) Los Angeles/Long Beach/Riverside, Calif.; 3) Fresno/Madera, Calif.; 4) Bakersfield, Calif.; 5) Birmingham, Ala.; 6) Logan, Utah 7) Salt Lake City, Utah ; 8 ) Sacramento, Calif.; 9) Detroit, Mich.; 10) Baltimore, Md./Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia.
