Maybe one of our Hawaii buds could take a guess.

Curious who is the QB this year for you, and if JJ would have
stayed, what do you think the odds would have been of JJ starting
Bo Levi Mitchell as a true freshman there.

I know that if JJ stayed, he most likely would have gone with Graunke but he is no longer with the team, so i am curious as to who will take the lead at QB over there

I wonder if BLM was not the starter here before the practice even started.

Good point.
This should be interesting. Still would like to hear from the Warrior posters.

I think that Bo would have redshirted if JJ was still at Hawaii. Senior Tyler Graunke was the expected starter, but he had academic problems this summer. However, redshirt Junior Inoke Funaki has had a lot of time in the system and would have been a solid, experienced (he's 25 years old!) option at QB.

However, JJ and Dan Morrison liked JC QB Rausch and he probably would have ended up at Hawaii if JJ stayed...and he's won the starting QB job at Hawaii. So, I'd guess that Rausch and Funaki would have been the top 2 QBs at Hawaii and Bo would have redshirted.

That is the nice thing about having QB depth. Last year Hawaii had Colt as a senior, Tyler as a Junior, Funaki as a Sophomore, and a few other QBs. The coaching staff had already identified Rausch (who has 3 seasons of eligibility), so they would have had the Bo as a freshman, Rausch as a Sophomore (assuming he still would have gone to Hawaii, but JJ/DM were apparently the only ones who knew he was eligible to transfer after his first year at his JC), Funaki as a Junior, and Tyler as a Senior.

He also offered Rausch, but Rausch's coach didn't inform him of the SMU offer until signing day when Rausch had already committed to Hawaii. Hawaii's QB coach (Rolovich) found out about Rausch from Dan Morrison, as it wasn't well known that Rausch was eligible to transfer from his JC after playing there just 1 year. Rausch's own coach at his JC didn't realize Rausch could transfer to a D-IA school for this season!

You've been following him (JJ) for a long time, any advice to those of us who think the sky has fallen?

If Bo is your best QB option, that doesn't mean the sky is falling. It just means that he's the best option for now at the QB spot. However, it is rare that just 1 QB plays, so either Braden, Willis, or Logan will play this season due to injury or other factors.
