If Justin wasn't going to be the starter then it had to be a freshman (true or redshirt). I don't feel good about this. How can anyone feel good about a true freshman at QB? That's what we have. Good luck to him and good luck to JJ.
I never got any kind of positive vibe from JJ regarding Justin. Not once did he ever have anything positive to say about him.
Parents will take redshirting a negative. They believe that redshirting is a negative. It is a positive. It gives a player the chance to become biggger, stronger and faster. Ideallly we will get to the point in the next few years where we can redshirt everyone.

I hope we will reach the point where everyone can redshirt. But this year, the coaches saw something in these kids that Willis doesn't have. I'm behind this team all the way, and at this point it can't be worse football than I have seen in the past few years anyway. Go Mustangs! Beat Rice!!!

The thing I like best about June Jones is that he's a straight shooter. If Justin wasn't the best to implement his offense...he wasn't, records, seniority, orthodoxy or not. It might be bumpy but he's going to give us that offense we begged for, whether we like the method or not.

Offense wasn't our problem last year. We scored 30ppg. We gave up 40ppg.

Before everyone panics, give the kid a chance. I remember and was there when a freshman named Lance started against the big bad highly ranked Horns. He took them down that day and things turned out pretty well for him and the program. I realize he had the Pony Express backfield, but I believe in Coach Jones. This isn't going to be a quick turn around no matter how bad we want it now. With a more expereinced quarterback the record would probably be better this year, but it's not only about this year. We need to make strides this year and for the future. My years on the Hilltop were the glory days and it has hurt and hurt bad since the death penalty and I have taken plenty of abuse in fun from friends and colleagues about my alma mater, but we are heading in the right direction. I will get behind either Freshman quarterback and root like hell for him and the team in Houston on the 29th. I'm psyched about the possibility of where we are heading.

And remember. I know JW redshirted, but he had still never played a competitive D1 game, and he won 6 of the 11 he played (and he shared time with Slater for the first two games).
This is CUSA - I don't expect it, but I think it is perfectly possible that BLM will be more successful than people think this year. I believe JJ wants to win ASAP.

yep. I guess we are building for the future now. maybe jj figures the defense needs 3 years to rebuild anyway so might as well develop a qb in the meantime. I just can't believe we are going with a true freshman. couldn't he find a juco if he didnt believe in Willis?

He found them. He could not get them.
